Antique Bird Print - Vintage Boat-tailed Grackle Wall Art, Audubon Ornithology

We were lucky enough to pick up a small, well-cared-for collection of 19th-century natural history prints. This particular plate is a faithful reproduction of a hand-coloured engraving after John James Audubon, taken from his landmark work "The Birds of America" (1827-1838) — engraved, printed and coloured by Robert Havell (Plate CLXXXVII). The subject is the Boat-tailed Grackle (Quiscalus major), shown as a glossy blue-black male and a soft brown female perched among the leaves and acorns of a Live Oak (Quercus virens).

Audubon captured the birds with remarkable life and character, and while the work is nearly 200 years old it still feels wonderfully striking. It brings a natural, timeless touch to your home and is an ideal choice for anyone who loves antique ornithology and botanical art. It also sits beautifully alongside the other plates in our Vintage Art Collection. Please note: the original has been sold. This is a modern reprint on museum-quality, thick, and durable matte paper.
