Antique Fern Botanical Chart Print - Vintage Edward Joseph Lowe Fern Species Poster

Ten ferns from Edward Joseph Lowe's Victorian study, laid out together on one sheet. Every specimen is numbered and captioned with the botanical name Lowe gave it, the way a 19th century naturalist would have recorded them.

The greens are soft and the paper has a warm, aged tone, so it sits quietly in a room. It works on its own, and it also pairs with the single fern plates in our Vintage Art Collection.

Ferns included: Maidenhair, Brake, Moluccan Tree Fern, Bristly Shield, Sea Spleenwort, Male Fern, Large Leaved Maidenhair, Sword Fern and Lady Fern.

We made this poster from a collection of genuine 19th century fern prints that we acquired and digitised from our own physical collection.

The individual fern illustrations come from Edward Joseph Lowe's Ferns: British and Exotic, first published between 1856 and 1860. Lowe's historical botanical illustrations are now in the public domain.

We have carefully digitised, restored and arranged the individual illustrations to create this new poster composition.
