Antique Fern Botanical Print

We were lucky enough to pick up a small, well-cared-for collection of 19th-century botanical fern prints. This particular plate is a faithful reproduction of a naturalist illustration by Edward Joseph Lowe, taken from his book "Ferns: British and Exotic" (1856-1860). The subject is the graceful maidenhair fern, from the genus Adiantum — part of the Pteridaceae family and easily recognised by its slender, dark stipes and glossy, vivid green fronds.
