Vintage Butterfly Print - Antique Entomology Illustration
A pair of butterflies from an antique natural history plate, restored and reproduced on a single sheet. One has dark wings washed with iridescent blue and green along the margins; the other is soft cream and pale green, its wings finely veined and delicately scalloped.
The colours are muted and the paper has a warm, aged tone, so it sits quietly in a room. It works on its own, and it also pairs beautifully with the other insect and natural history plates in our Vintage Art Collection.
Vintage Butterfly Print - Antique Entomology Illustration
We made this print from a genuine antique natural history illustration that we acquired and digitised from our own collection.
The original plate is now in the public domain; the artist is not named on the piece, as was common for period book and portfolio work. We have carefully digitised, restored and arranged the illustration to create this print composition.
Please note: this listing is for a newly created reproduction art print. It is not an original antique plate.
